Meet the Doctors
Dr. Katie Benson (she/her) is passionate about enhancing her patients’ quality of life by effectively reducing pain, improving mobility and increasing strength. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Kansas and her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland University-Kansas City in 2017, where she graduated magna cum laude. With a strong commitment to her profession, Dr. Benson is an active member of both the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and the Kansas Chiropractic Association (KCA). She serves as the ACA Alternate Delegate for Kansas and the KCA Metro District Director, where she is proud to have remained active in chiropractic legislation activities through seeking co-sponsors for ACA and KCA legislative priorities by hosting officials in her office, conducting in-person meetings, and continued investment in advocacy efforts aimed at improving outcomes for both chiropractic patients and their providers.
Her clinical training encompasses a variety of specialized techniques, including dry needling, the McKenzie method, instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy, myofascial release, and the Webster technique. Before opening Midwest MSK, Dr. Benson gained nine years of experience in a hospital setting, where she served as Clinic Director and Lead Regional Trainer, honing her skills in interdisciplinary patient care and mentorship.
Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two daughters, traveling, especially to the beach or mountains, reading, and crafting. She believes that physical health, mental well-being and personal fulfillment are interconnected. Dr. Benson emphasizes the importance of self-care and active living for herself and her patients.
Dr. Adam Wilkerson (he/him), originally from Mt. Olive, Illinois, holds a Bachelor’s degree in pre-medical biology from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. He earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic and a Master’s in Sports Rehabilitation from Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri. He is passionate about providing evidence-informed and effective care to help patients get back to feeling their best.
In addition to his chiropractic expertise, Dr. Wilkerson has extensive training in dry needling and has gone on to teach dry needling to other healthcare professionals. He also specializes in the McKenzie method, active release techniques, and myofascial release. He is an active member of the Kansas Chiropractic Association, contributing to the advancement of chiropractic care in the state of Kansas.
Outside of his practice, he enjoys playing pinball, watching horror films, and listening to vinyl records, especially disco and indie rock music, with his wife and their two cats. He also enjoys yoga and long walks in the park.
